Product Overview

Glucose Dehydrogenase (GDH) catalyzes the oxidation of D-glucose to D-glucono-δ-lactone and belongs to the FAD-dependent type. With its high substrate specificity and oxygen-independent characteristics, GDH serves as the core enzyme raw material for glucose biosensors and blood glucose monitoring devices.

This product is specifically designed for high-performance blood glucose monitoring systems. Compared to conventional glucose oxidase (GOx)-based systems, GDH is not affected by local oxygen concentration, providing more accurate and stable glucose readings across a wide physiological range. It is an ideal choice for diabetes self-monitoring and point-of-care diagnostics. Furthermore, it is fully compatible with electrochemical biosensor platforms, making it suitable for large-scale production of disposable test strips and applications in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems.

FAQ

Q: Can this product be used for both blood glucose meters and continuous glucose monitoring systems?

A: Yes, it is compatible with both. Our FAD-dependent glucose dehydrogenase (FAD-GDH) is engineered for electrochemical sensors. It works for conventional blood glucose meter test strips (BGM), clinical biochemical reagents, as well as continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGM).

Q: Which coenzyme is your glucose dehydrogenase dependent on? What are its advantages over glucose oxidase (GOx)?

A: The product is FAD-dependent glucose dehydrogenase (FAD-GDH) and is oxygen-insensitive. The core difference from GOx lies in oxygen dependence. GOx requires oxygen for the reaction, which may cause inaccurate readings at high altitudes or under fluctuating oxygen levels. In contrast, FAD-GDH operates independently of oxygen, delivering more stable signals in all environments. Additionally, GDH does not generate hydrogen peroxide during reaction, lowering risks of electrode corrosion and enzyme deactivation.

Q: What is the cross-reactivity of this enzyme with other sugars such as maltose and xylose?

A: We offer multiple variants of FAD-GDH to suit different application requirements. Model HH6809 presents low reactivity towards maltose and galactose. For superior anti-interference performance, we also provide alternative FAD-GDH versions with cross-reactivity below 2% against xylose and other sugars.

Q: How should the product be stored to retain enzyme activity?

A: Store the product dry at -25℃ ~ -15℃. Unopened lyophilized powder remains stable for 18 months under the specified conditions. To prevent moisture absorption after removal from refrigeration, allow the sealed product to warm up to room temperature (around 25℃) before opening.

Q: What about the thermal stability of this enzyme? Can it withstand the drying processes in sensor production?

A: Our GDH is specially optimized for high thermal stability. It maintains stable activity in liquid form below 50℃. As lyophilized powder, its activity remains intact even after 7 days of storage at 42℃. Thanks to its excellent heat resistance, it is fully adaptable to the drying and curing processes during the production of sensors and test strips.

Q: Can you provide the activity assay method and standard operating procedure (SOP)?

A: Yes. We provide the standard activity assay protocol based on the DCIP/PMS method, along with complete technical documents including the definition of enzyme activity units, reagent preparation guidelines and calculation formulas.
