Product Overview


Triglycerides (TG) are quantified through an enzymatic cascade system initiated by lipoprotein lipase (LPL). LPL catalyzes the hydrolysis of triglycerides into glycerol and free fatty acids, serving as the rate-determining step of the assay system. The generated glycerol is subsequently processed through enzymatic reactions involving glycerol kinase (GK) and glycerol-3-phosphate oxidase (GPO), producing hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), which is converted into a measurable signal in the presence of peroxidase (POD).

Applications


Triglycerides are a type of lipid derived from dietary absorption and the metabolism of carbohydrates in the body. The measurement of triglycerides is of significant importance for the diagnosis and management of hyperlipidemia. These conditions may be primary or secondary to other diseases, such as kidney disease, diabetes, and endocrine disorders. Elevated triglyceride levels have been identified as a risk factor for coronary atherosclerotic heart disease.
