Product description

Luminol, a chemiluminescent substrate, is easily oxidized in alkaline solution and releases energy in the form of visible light, the reaction can occur in a variety of media, such as protic solvents, water; inert protic solvents, DMSO or DMF etc. The oxidation mechanism is related to the solvent itself, and the reaction conditions are slightly different. In inert protic solvents, only molecular oxygen and strong bases can induce chemiluminescence (λmax=485 nm); In aqueous systems, however, strong bases, molecular oxygen (or hydrogen peroxide) and another auxiliary oxidant (such as hypochlorite or perborate) are necessary for the chemiluminescence reaction (λmax = 425 nm). It is the excited state product of luminol that eventually generates chemiluminescence 3-aminophthalate (3-AP).




This product can be used for chemiluminescence analysis and has a wide range of applications, including: 1) micro-determination of glucose and glucose oxidase concentrations by enzymatic chemiluminescence reactions; 2) as a poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitor; 3) The use of different sensitizers to produce different colors of fluorescence to demonstrate the phenomenon of chemiluminescence; 4) Forensic detection of traces of blood that may be contained in crime scenes; 5) Biochemical detection of metal cations such as copper, iron, or cyanide presence of chemicals, etc.
