Product Overview

Proteinase K (Liquid for mNGS)

Proteinase K (Liquid for mNGS) is a highly active recombinant serine protease derived from Tritirachium album. As a member of the subtilisin family, it possesses a catalytic triad (Asp39-His69-Ser224) and exhibits broad substrate specificity, efficiently degrading a wide range of proteins under both native and denaturing conditions.

Specifically developed for metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) workflows, this product is manufactured using a specialized purification process to minimize residual nucleic acid contamination while maintaining excellent enzymatic activity. Compared with conventional Proteinase K products, it provides significantly lower background nucleic acid levels, helping improve the sensitivity, accuracy, and reliability of downstream pathogen detection and sequencing analysis.

The enzyme demonstrates excellent tolerance to chaotropic salts commonly used in nucleic acid extraction systems and is free from detectable DNase, RNase, and Nickase contamination. Its ready-to-use liquid format is suitable for both manual and automated sample preparation workflows.
