Intended Use
For the in vitro quantitative determination of α-Amylase (AMY) levels in human serum and plasma.
It is mainly used for the auxiliary diagnosis and treatment of acute pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).
Principle
4, 6-ethylene-p-nitrobenzene-α-D-maltohept oside (ethylene-G7-pNP, EPS) is decomposed by α-Amylase, then the degradation products are hydrolyzed to p-nitrophenol (405 nm) under α-glucosidase. The color of p-nitrophenol formed is proportional to the activity of α-amylase.
