Product Overview

Homocysteine, also known as hyperhomocysteinemia (HCY), is a sulfur-containing amino acid and an intermediate in the metabolism of methionine. HCY levels are closely associated with cardiovascular diseases and constitute a significant risk factor for their development. The cyclical enzymatic assay based on the cystathionine pathway represents an economical method for HCY detection, with cystathionine β-lyase (CBL) serving as a key reagent. CBL is a recombinant, engineered microbial enzyme that catalyzes the downstream reaction of CBS, cleaving cystathionine to regenerate homocysteine and thereby completing the closed-loop HCY detection cycle. This product features an optimized enzyme conformation that enhances thermal stability; it maintains consistent activity even after brief treatment at 55°C and exhibits broad pH stability from 6.0 to 10.0. It is highly compatible with HCY assay systems, offering a dry-powder specific activity of ≥30 U/mg, precise enzyme-activity calibration, minimal required addition levels, and extremely low interference from protective excipients. The formulation tolerates common reagents such as bacteriostats and chelating agents, with inter-batch enzyme-activity variability kept under control. By incorporating CBS (HH4001) and DLDH, it maximizes synergistic compatibility. The finished HCY reagent demonstrates strong resistance to lipemic and hemolytic interferences, making it suitable for point-of-care testing (POCT) and large-scale automated biochemical assays for cardiovascular chronic disease screening across hospitals of all tiers.

Key Features

Stable Lyophilized Powder

Provides a long-lasting, stable lyophilized powder that is easier to transport and store than liquid formulations.

Engineered for Stability & Solubility

The enzyme's molecular structure has been engineered and optimized for enhanced stability and excellent water solubility.

Standardized Activity for Consistency

Activity is accurately standardized, simplifying the reagent preparation process and ensuring consistent batch-to-batch performance.

High Specificity with Low Contaminants

High substrate specificity and stringent control of contaminant enzyme levels ensure precise and reliable assay results.

High Specific Activity, Low Usage

Both protein and enzyme powders exhibit high specific activity, allowing for reduced amounts of enzyme in reagent formulations and minimizing the potential interference of stabilizers with the assay system.

Excellent Thermal Stability

Excellent thermal stability improves both the long-term stability and the stability after opening of the reagent.
