Chikungunya Outbreak Escalates in Foshan, Guangdong – Nucleic Acid Testing Forms First Line of Defense
Recently, the chikungunya outbreak has drawn increasing public attention. As of now, cumulative cases in Foshan, Guangdong have exceeded 4,000. In response, the city has activated 53 designated hospitals and mandated hospitalization and isolation for patients testing positive via nucleic acid testing, alongside large-scale community screening.

China CDC Issues Technical Guidelines – Emphasizes Need for Nucleic Acid Testing
In July 2025, the China CDC released the Technical Guidelines for Chikungunya Prevention and Control, clearly stating that in Class I/II regions, "dengue-like cases" presenting with fever and rash/joint pain must undergo multiplex nucleic acid testing for dengue virus, chikungunya virus, and other pathogens.

WHO Issues Global Alert – Multiple Countries Face Outbreak Risk
Chikungunya has been locally transmitted in 119 countries and regions, placing approximately 5.5 million people at risk of infection. The World Health Organization is assisting nations in upgrading their laboratory diagnostic capacities.

Understanding Chikungunya

Chikungunya is transmitted by Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti mosquitoes (commonly known as tiger mosquitoes). The typical triad of symptoms includes sudden high fever (39–40°C), severe symmetrical joint pain (especially in the wrists and ankles), and a maculopapular rash. There is currently no specific antiviral treatment or preventive vaccine available worldwide.

Rapid Response – Empowering Precision Diagnostics from the Front Line

In light of the global rise in chikungunya cases, high-performance diagnostic reagents based on rapid and accurate molecular detection platforms have become essential.
Hzymes’ “One-Stop Molecular Diagnostic Raw Material Solutions (Rapid PCR/LAMP)” empower CDCs and IVD companies to swiftly develop detection kits, providing core technological support for early detection and timely isolation.
